1. Tell me a little about yourself

Hello Noura and everyone else. I’m Annemieke, a 30 year old reader who tries to find time to read and blog in between taking care of her 2 year old son (and cat and husband). I live in the Netherlands, so Dutch is my first language. However I decided against blogging in Dutch as I was just so used to doing things in English online.

2. Who are some of your favorite authors?

Some of my favorite authors for those reasons are Terry Pratchett, Rick Riordan, Jonathan Stroud, Robin Hobb, Naomi Novik. But there are many more authors I keep my eye on.

3. What are some of your favorite genres?

Fantasy is my favorite genre. I think because it is so easy to dive into and so easy to forget about the real world. I also love seeing author’s fantasy and creativity with worlds and magic. How they make things fit. How they can surprise me.

4. Do you have any book recommendations?

There are some books that deserve some more attention and I would love to share my love for these with you all. Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Co is an amazing historical fantasy that made me fall in love with this softy main character and the magic world. Sunbolt by Intisar Khanani is a great high fantasy novella, and its full novel sequel completely lived up to it. Where the Stars Rise is an amazing diverse sci-fi and fantasy anthology by Asian authors that more people need to talk about. I recommend these three with all my heart, and I hope some of you will give them a shot.

5. Your favorite reads this year?

Some of my favorite reads this year have been The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin, The Mad Ship by Robin Hobb, The Empty Grave by Jonathan Stroud, The Many Worlds of Albie Bright by Christopher Edge, Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett and Giant Days by John Allison. A nice mix I’d say. But I hope there will be more to join this list for the rest of the year.

6. Blog posts you’re proud of?

One of the blog posts I’m proud of is this post about which book reminds bloggers about Christmas from last year. I’m thinking of doing it again but with different bloggers of course. There is also this post where I made a Fantasy A to Z with things I associate with fantasy
