Do you ever just think about the books that introduced you to reading? I haven’t thought about it in a long while but today was one of those days. When I thought about the books that got me into reading I got this sense of nostalgia. That need to read those books again just to remember what the experience was like all over again. As far as I can remember I’ve always loved to read but I did go through a stage where I hardly picked up anything. The books that got me into reading will probably be really familiar and similar for some of you as well. Here goes nothing.
The Hunger Games by Suzanna Collins
This series was my life for such a long time. When I started reading them the Catching Fire movie was already out. I had refused to see the movie until I had finished the book. 2013 was the highlight of my reading year if I’m honest. Most of the books that got me back into reading I read in that year. The Hunger Games was so interesting for me. I loved every second of the books, especially Catching Fire. I’d probably say that it’s my favorite in the trilogy.
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
This series is my life in every sense of the word. I remember being on vacation and spending time with my cousins when I came across the trailer for City of Bones. I fell in love with it immediately. It had Vampires, Werewolves, Faeries, Warlocks and Witches, and of course we can’t forget Shadowhunters. Everything I wanted all in one book. I got back from vacation and bought the first book right away. I could say that the Shadowhunter series is the one that stuck with me most. I’m a huge fan of Cassandra Clare’s work and I’ve been reading her work since then.
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Another series that was super popular in 2013 because of the movie release. In truth even though I read all three books after each other I was only a fan of the first book. It was full of suspense and the beginning of my young adult book journey. The second and third book weren’t my favorite at all to be honest. I still went to read Four: A Divergent Collection though.
