Happy Sunday everyone!
I thought I’d try a new kind of post today. This will be like a reading vlog but in written format. I’m planning to do this with a couple of books (that I’m sure about). So I’m keeping this spoiler free so there’s no need to worry. I’m just going to be adding some thoughts and pictures of what my weekend has been like with my darling, Chain of Gold. These characters mean the absolute world to me and I’m so excited to dive back in and visit the London institute after so long. Read on to see what my weekend looked like!
Oh! and do let me know what your weekend was like and what you read!
Thursday 5th of March
Well, today’s the day. I finally snagged a copy of the Chain of Gold ebook this morning! Sadly, there aren’t any physical copies in my country yet but I’m not ready to get spoiled so I’m settling for this. Ah that first chapter! James is an absolute sweetheart and I’m ready to protect him with my life. Though if I’m being honest I’d protect them all with my life. It feels so nostalgic to be back at the London institute with the characters that made me fall in love with reading all over again.
I’m only 60 pages in but is it too soon to say that this will be a 5 star read? I guess we shall see as the day progresses.
“Lucie had long ago decided that living in a story would be terribly uncomfortable. Far better to write them, and control the tale so it was never too sad or too scary, only just enough to be intriguing.”
I also decided to keep the Shadowhunter theme going and started making a Will Herondale book sleeve design! It was originally a design I made on a bookmark but I loved it so much and decided to try it out on a book sleeve. Hopefully I’ll be fully done with it this weekend. I’ve got a lot of painting and sewing to do.
Friday 6th of March
It’s currently 4:50 PM as I’m writing this. This feels like vlogging but in written format but anyways, I woke up early this morning and started working on the book sleeve. I’m done painting it (my fingers are protesting!) and it’s looking wonderful so far 😍 might tweak a few things but I’ll decide later tonight what to do. I’m now 100 pages into Chain of Gold. The action is picking up and I love getting to know the characters more. It;s amazing how I’m not getting bored at all? like what sorcery has Cassie used where not a single part makes you want to put the book down? Either way I’m going to take a short break, mostly because I need to eat.
“Cordelia thought a tattoo would be rather more like a their marks, but it reminded her of something else instead. It was ink, the way books and poems were made of ink, telling a permanent story.”
And I’m back! I have no clue what time I started reading again. I went to craft with my mum a little…well, a lot actually. I started reading again at roughly 11 PM I think. I’m now 146 pages in and guys please pick up this book if you’re caught up with Cassie’s books! I’m so so in love and I do believe that I’m giving this a 5 star rating. Period. In this house we stan well rounded characters and heart wrenching stories. Going to take a break for the night and watch Detective Pikachu with my siblings. Will probably start reading again tomorrow.
Saturday 7th of March
And my book sleeve is ready! Oh gosh I’m so so in love with the way it turned out. I was so in the London / Shadowhunters vibe that I had to make this. One of my favorite quotes of all time 🥰 (and yes, that’s supposed to be a silhouette of Will Herondale). A special thank you to my mum who actually did the sewing!
On a reading note, I have been reading all day. It’s now 11:46 PM and I’ve binged this book like there’s no tomorrow. I stopped at page 146 yesterday and I’m now on page 427. I want to finish this sooooo badly but I’ve got university tomorrow and I’m so not ready to go looking like a zombie so sadly, I’m going to wait until tomorrow to binge the last 100 and something pages.
“I wonder sometimes if it is easier to be brave when one is young. before one knows truly how much there is to lose.”
The experience has been surreal. I’m in love with everything and honestly I have no other words except for those. I’m. In. Love.
Sunday 8th of March
It’s Sunday! and I’m tired as all hell. I practically passed out last night and had to wake up super early to come to university. It’s now 9:33 AM. I’m about to pick up Chain of Gold again. I’m nervous and excited all in one go. I’m just here to let you know that I have no clue if I’m going to be grinning by the end of this or sobbing but hey look out for the update!
“One,” said Cordelia. “That’s everyone’s dream, isn’t it, really? Instead of many who give you little pieces of themselves-one who gives you everything.”
It’s currently 12:21 AM and I finished it!!
I am in a state. The last 100 pages had so much more than I thought they would. The plot twists and revelations are maddening! I want to scream and cry all at once which is impossible because I’m in the library and would prefer everyone to think I have some sanity. But that was honestly the best think I’ve read. I loved the other Shadowhunter books with all my heart and now I’ve added another to the list. The Infernal Devices has always been my most favorite and I just knew I was going to fall in love with this one just as hard. I’m going to try to write my review but I honestly don’t know how much sense it’s going to make. I just keep repeating the phrase, ‘what the hell was that?’ and so I will end my reading diary for now.
That was so much more fun than expected! You can definitely look forward to more of these including one for House of Earth and Blood, and The Kingdom of Back!
What did you think about this new post format? Do let me know!
