Trouble is haunting Cassidy Blake . . . even more than usual.
She (plus her ghost best friend, Jacob, of course) are in Paris, where Cass’s parents are filming their TV show about the world’s most haunted cities. Sure, it’s fun eating croissants and seeing the Eiffel Tower, but there’s true ghostly danger lurking beneath Paris, in the creepy underground Catacombs.
When Cass accidentally awakens a frighteningly strong spirit, she must rely on her still-growing skills as a ghosthunter — and turn to friends both old and new to help her unravel a mystery. But time is running out, and the spirit is only growing stronger.
And if Cass fails, the force she’s unleashed could haunt the city forever.
“What you can’t see is always scarier than what you can. Your eyes play tricks on you, filling in the shadows, making shapes.”
Victoria Schwab never fails to amaze me. I have fallen in love with every book she has written so far. She just has this ability to make every book unique and absolutely amazing regardless of the genre.
I was really excited to dive back into this story. I read an ARC of City of Ghosts back in 2018 and adored every second of it! I picked this one up as an audiobook and the experience added so much to the book. Would definitely recommend trying it!
This book is one of my favorite middle grade series. I loved the writing as always. I loved the amount of detail that the author put into each of the places visited. She described the monuments, the food and everything in such wonderful detail. I’ll admit I ended up craving a good amount of pastry from this one. Loved the ghost hunting as usual. There was a good amount of goosebumps and you know the author is doing the creepy vibe right. There was a good deal of adventure and plenty of ghosts and bone catacombs. We got to learn a bit more about Jacob which was nice but that ending had me really asking questions. I just wonder how all this will end.
If you’ve thought about picking this series up then I highly recommend you do. Victoria Schwab knows how to cater to every age group and you’ll enjoy this one no matter how old you are.
