Welcome to The Diverse Shelf!
This blog series is new. I’ve realized that so far this year I haven’t read as many books by authors of color as I would love to. I know that by the end of the year I’ll probably have read a lot but I wanted to allocate a few books a month to keep it all balanced. There are so many books by authors of color that are on my tbr, and I want to start sharing with you the ones I read! This is most likely going to be a monthly thing but I will try to have some weekly updates if I can.
So for June I’ve added these books to my list! I might not be able to get to them all but I hope I can at least read 4 of these. Whatever I don’t read will be moved to next month. So, lets get to the books!
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
The Hate U Give is the biggest priority this month and it’s actually my book club read for June! I’m sure I’ll be reading this one this month. Hoping the bookstore has restocked. Everytime I go to buy it it’s sold out (which is great!) but I need my copy!
Hunted by the Sky by Tanaz Bhathena
The mentioned Indian inspired fantasy that was mentioned in the title is here! I’m so in love with this cover and so in love with the synopsis. You have to add this to your tbr!
Thank you Farrar, Straus and Giroux for the review copy!
Release Date: June 23, 2020
Skyhunter by Marie Lu
Ah when I saw that Marie Lu was releasing a new book this year I got so excited! I read The Kingdom of Back this year and enjoyed it so much. I’m really looking forward to this one as well.
Thank you Roaring Brook Press for the review copy!
Release Date: September 29, 2020
The Silence of Bones by June Hur
This has been one of my highly anticipated since I heard about it on Twitter. I’m currently reading it and I’m loving how atmospheric the vibe is! This is such a good read. I was a little worried since I don’t read much historical fiction but I’ve loved the ones I’ve read so far.
The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
This was recommended to me by my friend Sha. I’ve seen so many people recommend this books and honestly anything written by N.K. Jemisin. I’m going to make this one a priority for the month. I’m a little intimidated but I trust her choices so here goes I guess?
