It’s time for the Stuck at Home Book Tag! I was tagged by one of my favorite people, Mieke over at The Little Mouse that Reads.

The Tag Rules:

What are you currently reading?

52886627 The Empire of Gold (The Daevabad Trilogy, Book 3): Amazon.co.uk ... Raybearer (Raybearer, #1) by Jordan Ifueko

I’m reading some pretty amazing books if I do say so myself 😍

What’s your favorite ‘can’t leave the house’ activity?

Probably baking, diy (in all forms), and binging movies and shows.

A book you’ve been meaning to read forever?

32620332. sy475 28458598

Need to read both of these before the year ends!

An intimidating book on your tbr?

23395680. sy475 38525180. sy475

Both of these have been on my shelf for about a year and I’m too scared to pick them up.

Top three priority books on your tbr?

50158128. sx318 sy475 43884209

I have both of these on audio and I can’t wait to get to both of them this month.

Recommend a short book?

33585392 33606119

Both are super important books. I learned so much from Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race. Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions was also very eye opening.

Recommend a long book?

50081241. sy475 36215220. sy475

Both of these are favorites of mine from this year! The Wolf of Oren-Yaro was full of political intrigue and loved every minute of it. The City of Brass touched my heart in ways I can’t even explain and the only thing I can tell you is please read it!

Something you’d love to do while stuck at home?

More self care day and I mean the full blown kind with face masks, books, movies and a whole lot of snacks.

What do you plan on reading next?

50158128. sx318 sy475 Aru Shah and the End of Time (A Pandava Novel, Book 1) (Pandava ... The Poppy War : R.F. Kuang : 9780008239848

I have a tendency to read 3 book at once, sometimes more. My Diversify that Shelf readathon is coming up (August 10th!) and these are part of my tbr.

  1. I’m curious to see what you think of You Had Me at Hola, I’ve heard such good things! I’ve also heard a lot of great things about The Wolf of Oren-Yaro as well so I’m hoping to reading it by the end of the year! 💕

  2. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying You Had Me at Hola – I have that lined up as one of my next reads. I’ve just read The Poppy War (currently reading the sequel), and I loved it a lot! Hope you’ll feel the same way. 🙂 I love The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Get a Life, Chloe Brown and I really enjoyed Illuminae! And yes, self care is so important, I too need to work on that more! 🙂

  3. illuminae has become one of my favorite YA series; it’s a totally unique read that you’ll enjoy so much. Also Muse of Nightmares will not disappoint, The Strange the Dreamer duology is easily one of my top 5 reads.

  4. I love that Raybearer is in nearly all your answers! I love that book so much 😭 As a Nigerian, I have to say it’s the only book I’ve seen by an American author with great Nigerian rep (not even COBAB achieved this lol). Also, Get a Life, Chloe Brown is AMAZING!! I have a mini review in my last post. I’ve read it about 3 times this year alone 😂😂
    Great post, Noura!

    • The audiobook is so good! I just know this is going to be one of my favorite books this year 🥰 I havent read COBAB yet but I’ll be getting to it soon. The fact that you read Chloe Brown 3 times means this book has GOT to be good 😱😍 I’m starting it soon too! Good the audiobook ready. I’m going to check out your review for extra motivation and to pick it up sooner 🤭

  5. Ah loved reading all your answers to this tag!!

I’m SO excited to read Raybearer eepp. I’ve just been hearing phenomenal things and I have it on audiobook so need to read is asap. Also, You Had Me At Hola also sounds wonderful xx

I LOVED Illuminae, that trilogy wrecked me when I read it last year so hope you love it. Bingeing them is also the best way to go in my opinion. I didn’t survive it but I also wouldn’t have it any other way haha. And hope you love Evelyn too. That book was also wow a lot. Lowkey actually need to reread because I didn’t have the best time with it, not it a bad way. I just took too long to read it and it felt disjointed because of that welp.

AH I’m petrified of The Poppy War and City of Brass because THEY BIG. But also want to know what all of the fuss is about hehe

    • Thank you for reading! 🥰

I havent finished Raybearer yet but it’s amazing so far! I recommend the audiobook 100% because the voices are done so well and it adds so much atmosphere 😍 I’m excited and scared for both of those! I got the audiobook for Illuminae to help me 🙈

Well, I think you know how I feel about City of Brass so I’m not going to talk about it (read it!) 😌 The Poppy War is one I’m really worried about. I want to love it so much!

  6. I highly enjoyed Illuminae as an audiobook! The production is amazing and works really well with the format the authors wrote the book in. Really great reads on your horizon! 🙂

  8. if there’s one good thing that’s coming from this quarantine, is the fact i am mastering the art of baking, hahah. i don’t think i’ve ever baked this much, but it’s really satisfying for some reason.

i really hope you get to pick up seven husbands and when dimple met rishi. they’re both fantastic novels; i particularly love the latter just because the main couple made me swoon so much.

iluminae can be very intimidating at first, but i’m sure you’ll be able to fly through it! it’s such an action packed book, it’s hard to put it down once things pick up.

    • Omg right? We’ve baked everything here too 😂 I’ll be starting both of them soon! Buddy reading them with some friends. I’m really excited to get to them! I got the Illuminae audiobook which I was told is really amazing. Hoping to start it soon!
