Welcome to another reading blog! I’m clearly on a roll this month. I’ve been having such fun with my reading time. I’m also detoxing from social media, namely Twitter, and I can’t explain how amazing I’ve been feeling since doing that. This week was also pretty interesting and I’m excited for you to see what I’ve been up to!
Books Picked Up
Sunday – October 18th
Progress: 35% of Bunny + Started and finished The Poet X
My Sunday is off to a lovely start! I woke up at around 7:30 (which isn’t my usual go to time). I took a shower, made breakfast and some tea and now I’m basically just chilling.
Okay, so I started Bunny today and this is just the weirdest book I have ever picked up. Strange doesn’t even feel like a good enough word for it. I don’t even know how else to describe it. It’s weird enough to keep me reading though it can be a bit uncomfortable.
And my last update for today will be that I started and finished The Poet X. Like I did with Clap When You Land, my goal was to read at least 100 pages. You can guess what happened next I guess. I sadly didn’t enjoy this one as much as Clap When You Land but I’m slowly becoming a fan of Elizabeth Acevedo with each book.

Monday – October 19th
Progress: Started and finished The Weight of Our Sky
This morning was exhausting. I didn’t feel like doing anything. I made some breakfast and had my tea but overall I was feeling kinda meh. Watched Monsters, Inc. for comfort and then picked up The Weight of Our Sky on a whim. I just saw it in my ebook library and decided to start it. I finished it 2 hours ago and wow was that a good book. It was so captivating and I read so much so fast. The way the author wrote about OCD was so detailed and often painful to think about. I appreciate the author bringing it to light like that and not shying away by bringing it into the story for a while and then not mentioning it anymore. I also cried so you always know it’s a good book when that happens.

Tuesday – October 20th
Progress: Started and finished Other Words for Home & Punching the Air
I feel on top of the world. I’ve been in such a reading mood this month, and especially this week. I actually started and finished two books today. They were both in verse but still. Other Words for Home was absolutely amazing! I teared up a few times and this story was just overall wonderful and I can’t recommend it enough. Punching the Air has been on my list for a while and today I finally decided to pick it up. I enjoyed the book so so much. I didn’t really know what to expect but I adored it. It’s such an important book and one I highly recommend as well.
I now have no clue what to read next. I have a lot of books on my list but I don’t know which one to start with. I suppose I’ll wait until tomorrow to pick something new.

Wednesday – October 21st
Progress: 52% of It’s Not About the Burqa (Started a few months ago)
I woke up late so my usual morning reading didn’t happen today. I did pick up It’s Not About the Burqa though. I picked this up a while back but didn’t want to rush through the essays. I read a bit more today and I’m liking it so far. It’s nice to read about Muslim women from different backgrounds and with different experiences.
Something exciting did happen today! I got approved for a review copy of I Would Leave Me If I Could by Halsey! Halsey has been one of my favorite artists for a while now and I absolutely love her music. I can’t believe I’ve actually been approved! I’m so looking forward to starting it over the weekend 😍

Thursday – October 22nd
Progress: Started and finished I Would Leave Me If I Could + Finished It’s Not About the Burqa + 7% of They Wish They Were Us
And it’s a wonderful Thursday! I got myself to wake up early today (unlike yesterday) and I started reading I Would Leave Me If I Could. Took my time with it because I wanted to savor it. Overall I really loved it. It was all about her experiences and some poems were pretty heavy to read about. I really hope she writes more poetry in the future too. She has such talent!
I also finished what was left of It’s Not About the Burqa. I really enjoyed these essays. Some I felt were a bit dense so it took me a little longer to get through while others were super easy and quick to read. I loved the diversity of the women who wrote the essays and what they brought to the book. I also started a tiny bit of They Wish They Were Us but I haven’t really gotten anywhere yet.
