Mini Movie Reviews | Star Trek, Into Darkness, and Beyond

It’s the start of 2021 and my blog content for the year is starting to come together. With that being said I bring to you my mini reviews of the reboot Star Trek movies. Let me start by saying that I am totally new to the world of Star Trek. I watched the three movies over the course of three days in December and might I add that I am in love. I don’t really have enough thoughts for individual reviews so here are my mini thoughts on these movies.

Star Trek (2009)

I can’t even tell you what made me decide to start these movies. I’ve always wanted to watch Star Trek. Out of everything I’ve read online I found these movies to be the least intimidating. There are only 3 after all and I could decide if the franchise was for me or not. Little did I know that I would enjoy the movies so much that I’d start to look forward to seeing the rest. What I loved was despite not having seen any of the previous installments, it was pretty easy to get into. I was worried I wouldn’t understand what was going on but that wasn’t the case. This was also super entertaining! It was funny in places and had some pretty good action scenes. I also really adored the cast and the acting was wonderful. The story had a bit of a time twisty feel to it which was a pleasant surprise.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

There seem to be a lot of people who didn’t like this one but personally, it’s my favorite. I loved this so much! I loved that this one was action packed. I also felt like we got acquainted with the characters a lot more. I also loved the dynamic between Kirk and the crew. The story felt very solid for me and I enjoyed it immensely. Absolutely loved the acting and how they brought the characters to the screen again. The special effects were pretty spot on too. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Of course I did end up getting pretty emotional and if you’ve seen this one then you probably know why. The acting didn’t fail to amaze me. I truly can’t recommend this one enough.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Star Trek Beyond (2016)

I feel like with each movie in this reboot you get a little more than the one before. The action in this one was crazy. Again I was on the edge of my seat. I was so worried something would happen to the crew and I grew to really love them after the first two movies. This was fun right from the beginning and it just kept building up. Plenty of suspense and very entertaining.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I’m personally really happy that I watched these. They genuinely made my nights so much better. I was entertained throughout them all and I’m definitely planning on watching some of the older ones soon. If you’re a Star Trek fan please do let me know what I should see next. I’m a little overwhelmed 🙈

  1. This review made me so happy! I haven’t watch any Start Trek prior the reboot, but I agree that they’re very easy to get into! I also love the action and the dynamics between the crew 🙂 My favorite is Into Darkness too!

  4. Love these movies!! I vaguely remember watching the original movies with my parents too, but they weren’t as good (story was still good, but you could tell the movie was old). You’ll have to give an update on what to watch next! I’ve been meaning to get more into Star Trek but am also not sure what to go for next.
