One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming…
Nora is a cut-throat literary agent at the top of her game. Her whole life is books.
Charlie is an editor with a gift for creating bestsellers. And he’s Nora’s work nemesis.
Nora has been through enough break-ups to know she’s the woman men date before they find their happy-ever-after. That’s why Nora’s sister has persuaded her to swap her desk in the city for a month’s holiday in Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. It’s a small town straight out of a romance novel, but instead of meeting sexy lumberjacks, handsome doctors or cute bartenders, Nora keeps bumping into…Charlie.
She’s no heroine. He’s no hero. So can they take a page out of an entirely different book?

It took me ages to read this but I loved every minute of it. I’ve never been a romance book kind of girl but I’d be lying if I said Emily Henry didn’t change my mind. Never have I read a romance book and loved every minute of it like this one. Like I genuinely have no complaints whatsoever. You bet I got my hands on all her books!
I love how deep the story went. It feels like it’s going somewhere specific and then Emily Henry takes it in a whole different direction. I love books that mix deep or heavy themes with banter and heart melting romance. I love that we see real and raw characters. They’re struggling and chasing dreams that feel far away. They’re grappling with their past and trying to be something more and something sometimes bigger than themselves. A book that made me feel all the things. I can’t remember the last time I got so emotional reading a romance novel (also taking into consideration that I don’t read many of them) but this one did it for me. I was sad, I was elated, I was somewhere in between all from one page to the next.
The fact that Nora and Charlie are both grumpy and both harboring things that they’ve never said out loud is possibly one of my favourite things ever. I loved seeing them work through it. I loved seeing them leaning on each other. I loved how their relationship developed and the slow burn of it all. I was rooting for these two with every fibre of my being. I couldn’t love them more than I already do. Another relationship I adored, Nora and Libby. It was nice seeing them work through their feelings. The sister dynamic was everything. As an oldest sibling I will say that Nora’s feelings and thoughts felt all too real.
The story itself was cute. I had a really good time reading this. I kinda didn’t want it to end. Which probably explains why it took me two months to read (oops). It was so easy to get lost in and I’m glad I read this one first. It was the best introduction to Emily Henry. So stoked to read her next ones. The question is, which one next?!

This sounds like the perfect romance novel. I love unexpected romances, or ones where the leads can’t get away from each other. I might need this for my next raw emotion/romance binge. Thanks for this review!

The fact that you’re not a romance reader gives this an even better recommendation. I’m not big into romance myself, so when people who feel the same enjoy a particular book I know it’s worth a look!
