Waiting on Wednesday: Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme that’s hosted over at Breaking the Spine. The idea is to share books that are soon to be releasing and that you’re excited about!

Each Wednesday I’ll be sharing with you the books that I can’t wait to release!

This week I’ll be talking about SORCERY OF THORNS! I got an ARC last week and I’m super excited to start it soon! I’m still going to feature it on Waiting on Wednesday today though.

TMI Tag! – Book blogger edition

I saw this on fandomsontherun blog and decided to give it a try!

so lets begin!

1) What fictional character has the best style?
The first character that came to my mind was Isabelle Lightwood. I mean let’s be honest, she could rock anything. Anything at all. And that’s a fact.

2)Your book girlfriend/boyfriend/ fictional crush?
I read The infernal devices about 3 or 4 years ago and ever since then I’ve been obsessed with Will Herondale *Swoons*, He’s still my number one and let’s be honest, he’s never really coming down.

3)Ever loved a character but then started hating them?
Ah yes. I loved Adam Kent when I first read the shatter me series. Throughout the second and third book my love for him died in a little hole in the ground. He changed a lot and that really frustrated me. But the character development in those books really skyrocketed.

4)Biggest/Longest book on your shelf?
That would most probably be the illustrated works of Jane Austen that has 832 pages. Which I haven’t read yet.

5)Heaviest book on your shelf?
I have many heavy books. The illustrated works of jane austen, City of heavenly fire, lady midnight and lord of shadows. I think those are the heaviest book I own.

6)Do you have any book posters?
Sadly not *cries a river*, but I’m aiming to change that!

7)Do you have any book themed jewelry?
Another thing that I don’t own.

8)Book OTP?
How does one only have one book OTP? Let me list a few of my favorites:

  • Wessa (Will & Tessa, The Infernal Devices)

I’ll have you know that this is my ultimate OTP.

  • Feysand (Feyre & Rhysand, A Court of Thorns and Roses series)

I love these two so incredibly much and if you haven’t read the books yet please do!

  • Sizzy (Simon & Isabelle, The Mortal Instruments series)

Most people who’ve read the series love them, and I got attached to these two more than anything.

  • Warnette (Warner & Juliette, Shatter Me series)

This will definitely differ from one person to another. I’ve had long debates surrounding this ship and a reminder that it’s your opinion. I love them. You have every right to disagree with me if you want to.

9)Favorite book series?
I fell in love with reading even more once I finished The Mortal Instruments series. I acknowledge that it has its flaws and there could be many but I still love it regardless. It had all the elements that I loved and wanted. The characters were perfect and I still have a long lasting attachment to them. Cassandra Clare is keeping this dragon sane by feeding her more Shadowhunter books! Anyone here a fan?

10)Favorite Book-to-movie soundtrack?
Well, The Mortal Instruments movie wasn’t perfect *Sad eyes*, but I loved the soundtrack so so much! Another great one was the fault in our stars and…you know what? Let me give you some of my favorites:

  • Heart by heart by Demi Lovato (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Soundtrack)
  • When the darkness comes by Colbie Caillat (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Soundtrack)
  • Magnetic by Jessie J (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Soundtrack)
  • All the stars by Ed Sheeran (The Fault In Our Stars Soundtrack)
  • Boom Clap by Charlie XCX (The Fault In Our Stars Soundtrack)
  • Not about angels by Birdy (The Fault In Our Stars Soundtrack)
  • Safe & sound by Taylor Swift (The Hunger Games Soundtrack)
  • Elastic Heart by Sia (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Soundtrack)

Those are only some but you get the point.

11)A book story you miss/ wish would continue?
If you asked me this a year ago id say the Shatter Me series. But we all know now that we will be getting more books starting next year! *Flails* Who here is as excited as I am?

12)Favorite stand-alone?
We were liars. I hardly read contemporary but I read this in hopes to fix that. It shattered my little soul into a million pieces. I loved it anyways. Heart ache is inevitable with this one.

13)Since when did you read books?
I read books when I was little but became obsessed when I was around 14.

14)Which Hogwarts house are you in?
A Ravenclaw and proud!

15)Quality you look for in a book?

  • Intriguing is the best word for this.
  • My dark soul loves equally dark books so there’s that.
  • Believable characters? I need to connect with the characters. Who’d want to read a book with stale characters?

16)Favorite book quote?
“Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read.”

– Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess

This quote. THIS quote has been my favorite for years. No amount of time can change that.

17)Favorite author?
The queen Cassandra Clare of course!

18)Favorite book cover?
The wrath and the dawn. The day I saw that cover I knew I had to have it between my fingers. The color and design just called to me. The story was amazing so I didn’t feel guilty about buying it.

19)Action or Romance?
More of an action loving reader but a bit of both is a perfect combination.

20)Where do you go when a sad moment happens?
I usually close the book, avoid throwing it at a wall and sob. My perfect way of fixing things. There is some screeching from time to time.

21)How long do you need to finish a book?
I’m in a slump at the moment so forever would be the right word but it depends on how busy I am usually. University is making reading hard these days.

22)How long is your mourning period?
A day or two mostly. Though even once I move on the memories come back randomly and ruin everything.

23)Least favorite Book?
Paper towns. As much as I wanted to love this book. I really really did but it just wasn’t for me. It took so long to pick up and I only enjoyed the book towards the ending.

24)Turn on in a character?
Naturally when I meet someone the first thing I notice is their smile so describing a characters smile or laugh in a book is enough to get a hold of my heart.

25)Turn off in a character?
Being mean and bullying. That right there ladies and gentleman is enough.

26)Reason I started blogging?
I started with bookstagram and I felt like I had a little world of my own with people who loved book just as much as I did. So I thought why not blog too! I’m trying to be persistent here.

27)Name a scary book?
I haven’t read any scary books yet. I am reading Cage of Bones by Tania Caver and its very chilling.

28)Last book that made you cry?
I think that would be We were liars. I haven’t read anything that made me cry buckets so far.

29)Last book that you gave 5 stars?
A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas.

30)Any favorite book titles?

  • The wrath and the dawn
  • A court of wings and ruin
  • Six of crows
  • Lady midnight
  • Every Harry Potter book under the sun!

31)Last book you read?
A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas.

32)Book you’re currently reading?
A Court Of Wings & Ruin by Sarah J. Maas.

33)Last book adaptation you watched?
The scorch trials.

34)A book character you always wanted to talk to?
Tessa Gray.

35)An author you always wanted to talk to?
Cassandra Clare. So that I can praise her for her work and for keeping me alive.

36)Favorite Book snack?
Eating while reading is a huge no no for me. I’m terrified of crumbs.

37)Book world you want to live in?
Take me to Hogwarts! I’m ready!

38)Book world you DON’T want to live in?

Panem. I will NOT volunteer as tribute thank you very much.

39)Last time you smelled a book?
I can assure you it hasn’t been that long. I smell books all the time.

40)Weird insults used in books?
probably “Shank” and “Klunk” both from The Maze Runner.

41)Favorite romance book?
I don’t read romance as a genre to be honest. Not really my area.

42)Do you write?
yup! I wrote a short story for a competition at my university and won second place! I’m going to start writing my book soon.

43)Favorite magical item?
Wands. Ever since Harry Potter waltzed into my life I have wanted one. I won’t rest until I have a real one in my hands.

44)Your quidditch position?
I think id fall straight off the broom and succumb to my death before getting anywhere.

45)Name a song you connect to a book?
Let me love the lonely by James Arthur reminded me so much of acomaf while I was reading it.

46)Favorite book related chat up line?

47)Have you ever used it?

48)Favorite book fandom?
Potterheads. Always and forever.

49)How many books do you own?
I have no clue tbh (too lazy to count them too)

50)Who do you tag?
Anyone interested in doing it!

Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this intensely long tag!

Good day Perkies!

Today’s post is going to be a tag! say hello to the writing tag. I’ll be sharing some tiny facts and advice with you guys. So I hope this is useful and that I don’t bore you too much 🙊

  • Genres:

Well Ive only just started writing but everyone who knows me understands the obsession i have with fantasy 😍 so many different stories have been forming in my head (mostly at 3 am while im trying to sleep) But even though im a sleep deprived lady Ive never regretted it once (okay maybe that one time but it WAS one time). Most of my stories are fantasy/YA based but im also planning on writing a steampunk, Victorian type story so we shall see how that turns out.

  • Styles:

There are 2 styles that I love:

-First person narration: Because I love feeling like I am the story and that im slightly badass and not just an almost 20 year old who studies psychology for a living.

-Third person narration: Sometimes I feel like its easier to write this way but i suppose i switch every once in a while.

  • Topics:

Well….get ready for an overload of topics. BUT these are not all in one book so we can all relax now.

  1.   Vampires, Witches & Warlocks, Faeries, Werewolves, and my own personal twist Foxes.
  2. Rival kingdoms.
  3. A legendary and lost queen.
  4. Fae warriors.
  5. Badass ladies.
  6. A million powers all in one little person.
  8. Mermaids and the like.
  9. Dark fantasy and wit.
  10. A banshee who’s part of a choir.
  11. 99.9% Magic.
  12. Attractive males.

That should satisfy your hungry hearts for a while *twirls to the next question*

A year maybe? i write bits and pieces here and there, nothing actually complete. I start writing for one of my series but stopped because i changed so many ideas. Now its just sitting there weeping in one of my folders. I did write a short story though for a competition and i got 2nd place! 😁 im very proud of that little piece of work and got amazing comments from amazing people on bookstagram + mom and grandma!

Click here to read the short story!

It bring me joy. I just love the thought of my characters being as real to readers as they are in my own little head. Ive also realized why authors love to torture us readers. The moment i come up with some shocking plot twist i automatically feel satisfaction i swear one day I’ll probably be drinking your tears in my mug for breakfast.

For me the best time is either early in the morning when everyone is asleep or at night when everyone is busy doing their own thing. I like to write in peace and quiet and far away from the world as possible. Why would you want your family to see you sobbing, shrieking and yelling at fictional characters?

  1. That moment when you get the most brilliant idea just by staring at a wall.
  2. The way the words just seem to flow.
  3. When all the sleepless night pay off and you’ve got the best plot put together.
  4. When you get the most positive comments from people ❤️
  5. Creating characters that are simply 👌🏽

  1. Sleepless nights filled with overthinking and no ideas whatsoever.
  2. Not being able to give a character the name they deserve.
  3. When an idea seems brilliant the night before and then you wake up and just think what the actual hell?

I sit on pinterest the entire day just staring at all the art and fantasy story ideas along with some inspirational quotes and BAM it hits me eventually. Another method is watching tv. i binge a bunch of series and sometimes that helps my brain function again. Also reading!

Summer is just around the corner and Ive vowed to write my first novel during that time. I haven’t figured out a title yet but it will come to me eventually. My characters are waiting for me to start bringing them to life and i couldn’t be more excited!

  1. Write my first novel.
  2. Edit it and have it ready for future publishing.
  3. To start writing the series that started it all.

That was fun!

If anyone is interested in doing this tag please feel free to.

Goodnight for now.
