Finally time for my June wrap up! June was an interesting month. I didn’t read as much as I’d hoped to but I did read some really great and anticipated books. Some of the books were actually quite a surprise and I wasn’t expecting to enjoy them as much as I did. Read on to find out what I read in June!
June Reads
1. The Iron Trial by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare – ★★★ || I’ve had this book on my shelf for such a long time and the only moment I decided to get to it was now. This was a pretty fun book. It was slow and sadly I found it a tiny bit boring at times. Still planning on picking up the rest of the books though.
2. An Emotion of Great Delight by Tahereh Mafi – ★★★★ || Wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did! A very emotional and at times, heavy read. Made me miss Tahereh Mafi’s writing so much and a little nostalgic for the Shatter Me series.
3. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare – ★★★★★ || Enjoyed my reread so much! Had some minor issues with it but I just loved being back here with the characters and seeing how far the books and stories have come.
4. A History of Notable Shadowhunters by Cassandra Clare – ★★★★ || Really wanted to check this one out! Loved the illustrations and the little fun facts.
5. Layla and Majnun by Nizami Ganjavi – ★★★★ || Most surprised by this read! I’ve seen it mentioned in some of my favourite books and just had to give it a read. A little repetitive and sometimes over dramatic but still enjoyed it.
6. Crooked House by Agatha Christie – ★★★★ || Absolutely love Agatha Christie’s writing! This was slightly different than her previous works but one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
7. The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde – ★★★ || Planning on reading The Picture of Dorian Gray in July and so I thought I’d give Oscar Wilde’s short story a try. Short and fun and mad me excited to start his most popular book.
8. Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare – ★★★★★ || One of my favourite reads of the year! This was so exciting and also heartbreaking. Still not sure what to do with myself now that I’m done and have to wait for the next one.

How was your June and what’s on your July TBR?
My June was very unsuccessful book-wise, but July I am going to spend catching up on ARCs!

The Iron Trial has been in my shelf forever and have yet to pick it up. Some day I finally will and also need to start The Last Hours series. I have almost finished my July TBR already. I just need to finish my buddy read of Dark Desires After Dusk by Kresley Cole and I’ve finished all the books I put in there in the beginning of the month.

Looks like we were both on the same page there. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t pick it up from before. My eyes just sort of glanced past it. Look at you go through your July TBR so quick 😍

i’ve been waiting to read more reviews on an emotion of great delight. i really enjoyed tahereh mafi’s previous YA contemporary (a large expanse of sea) and i am very intrigued about this one. i am glad to hear you enjoyed it, makes me hopeful that i’ll like it as much as i liked her other title! i have never read the shatter me series, so i don’t know how different her writing is from her fantasy books, but i did like it a lot.
